Saleh bin Hamad bin Jaber Al Sharqi currently serves as the Director General of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Mr. Al Sharqi’s journey in the Qatar Chamber began on February 1, 1999. Throughout his tenure, Al Sharqi held various senior managerial and executive positions until he was appointed as the General Manager.
Saleh is entrusted with various responsibilities that contribute to the Qatar Chamber’s success and the country's economic development. He formulates and implements effective strategies aligned with the economic environment and the country's development goals.
Mr. Al Sharqi evaluates the impact of trade relations between Qatari business communities and their counterparts worldwide, facilitating the growth of international business opportunities in Qatar. Moreover, he manages financial resources and human capital within the Qatar Chamber, ensuring their development and reporting requirements to the Board of Directors and the General Assembly.
As a representative of the private sector, Saleh fosters close relationships with government authorities and relevant stakeholders, working to incorporate private sector requirements in legislation and policy development. He also actively contributes to official conferences and events, advocating for the interests of the business community.
Additional Official Positions
In addition to his role as the General Manager of the Qatar Chamber, Saleh holds several other high-level positions. He is the Chairman of the “Made in Qatar” Exhibition Committee , Chairman of the Resources and Events Committee, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the GCC Commercial Arbitration Center, and the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commercial Arbitration Center for the GCC Arab Gulf Countries.
He also serves as a Member to the Board of Directors for several entities, including:
- Al Dar for Exchange Works
- Thye Arab-German Joint Chamber
- Joint Arab-British Chamber,
Saleh Al Sharqi is also a Member of the Executive Leadership Committee of the Federation of GCC Chambers, and a Member of the Minimum Wage Committee.
Mr. Al Sharqi also spearheaded two editions of the "Made in China" expo, strengthening economic and trade relations between Qatar and China.
Through his strategic vision, dedication, and commitment to promoting economic growth, Saleh continues to shape the future of commerce and industry in Qatar.
Academia
Academically, Saleh holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, which he obtained in 2012. In 2014, he earned a master’s degree in business administration.
